Access to food, healthcare, education, shelter and emotional support are the fundamentals every young child should have, but there are a number of children in communities around the world who are deprived of these very basic essentials.
Millions of children live without the love and protection of families, with nothing more than a piece of cardboard for a blanket and neglect almost guaranteed. No child should have to live such a bleak and painful life, but your donations can help elevate these children into a promising and hopeful future.
Orphans in Need supports over 30,000 orphan children in 12 countries, including India, Kashmir, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Palestine (Gaza), Gambia, Mali, Somalia, Sierra Leone and Senegal.
There are so many more children around the world who need our help, and that’s why we’re asking for your support so we can provide every child with a home, access to healthcare, plentiful food and a loving support system.
How Orphan Sponsorship Works!
Your $40 monthly donation will be used to improve every aspect of a child’s life by lifting them out of deprivation and giving them access to food, shelter, education, medical support and a safe living environment. With your help, we can end the abuse and exploitation of thousands of more children and give them the tools they need, and access to opportunities that will help build a promising life for themselves.
Child Sponsorship
When you sponsor an orphan, you are bringing them out of danger and placing them into a safe environment with everything they need in order to flourish and have a fair shot at building a prosperous and meaningful life.
We will send you a yearly report detailing their educational progress, as well as a handwritten letter from the child to you. We encourage sponsors to write letters to their sponsored child in order to cement a bond with them.

We use a small fraction of your donation as a contingency which means if a child’s sponsorship is ended by the donor, we can continue to provide them with the care and support they have been receiving. Each child has their own needs, so we also use a small percentage of your donations to research and work to find the best assistance for each child, ensuring that it meets our strict high standards.
We look at the level of poverty and risk of danger as a key deciding factor. We do not prioritise a certain gender; we base our decision on the level of urgency.
Sponsorship can be ended early if circumstances change. Sometimes, a relative of the orphan may come forward and offer to take guardianship. If we feel like the orphan will have good access to decent shelter, education food, clothes and – most importantly – emotional care and love, we will end the sponsorship.
Alternatively, orphans can be adopted. In this case, we carefully and extensively assess their potential new home and parents to ensure their key needs are met before we end the sponsorship.
