Nepal is located between China and India and has a population of roughly 31 million inhabitants. It is currently in the midst of an increasingly challenging political and environmental situation. Thousands of children find themselves orphaned or sold into slavery from a young and vulnerable age. If this was not difficult enough, earthquakes are shattering people’s living and working spaces, leaving the Nepalese people without food and shelter.

Our Nepal charity appeal teams work to provide struggling orphans in developing countries with a chance of a better life, however, we need your donations to make a change.

Orphans in Nepal

Childhood should be a time of freedom and security, but unfortunately, this is not the case for many Nepalese children subjected to slavery from as young as six years old. And those who are not sold and exploited are often neglected, deserted, or orphaned.

The number of orphans in Nepal is staggering, and in the absence of a nurturing family, these helpless children are forced to go without so many basic necessities. They have little to no access to clean water, shelter, food, clothing, medical care, and education. Without these essentials, a child cannot survive, let alone live a good life.

Many parentless children will end up in a Nepal orphan’s home. However, they do not have the space to accommodate how many orphans in Nepal there are.

Earthquakes in Nepal

Nepal is susceptible to earthquakes as it sits upon the Indo-Australian and Asian tectonic plates. The collision of these plates formed the Himalaya mountains. However, with these plates come many earthquakes that are detrimental to people’s lives.

The biggest earthquake of Nepal occurred in 2015, also known as the Gorkha earthquake. The earthquake shook central Nepal on 25th April 2015, killing as many as 9,000 people and injuring 23,000 others. Additionally, over 600,000 buildings in and around the Kathmandu area were left in ruins, whilst 285,000 were damaged.

This catastrophe affected around eight million people, which equates to nearly one-third of the Nepalese population. Many of the victims were children, as 30,000 classrooms in 8,304 schools were severely damaged. Similarly, the conditions of almost 1,000 health centers took a serious hit.

Earthquakes in Nepal have destroyed communities that affect millions of people, and history is highly likely to repeat itself.

Support Orphans in Need’s Charity Work in Nepal

Orphans in Need works across Nepal to support struggling orphans and those who have fallen victim to earthquakes. We work to distribute clean water, food packages, clothing, and medical supplies for those who need it most. Additionally, we put programs in place to provide children with educational opportunities to improve their prospects.

Please donate to our Nepal earthquake charity appeal so that we can rescue people from the ruins of earthquakes and elevate orphans from their current dire situations.
